To the left of the Nanda Deep were two Neem trees. These trees were planted by Baba. Unfortunately, these trees dried up. One of them was cut from the base. The other tree was cut. Over it’s stump a creeper is being grown.

Nanda Deep

Baba lit this akhand Nanda deep. (photo 4.4) When exactly it was lit is not known. In those days it was placed in a pit used to Abdul Baba look after it. Abdul Baba states that Baba sat with his back to the jyoth. Daily Abdul brought pots of water and placed them near the Nanda Deep. Baba then threw the water in various directions.

In 1942, Galvankar built a platform over which Nanda Deep was mounted. Later it was placed over a marble pillar in a glass case. (photo 4.4a) Thus it was protected from the elements. During the beautification plan of 1998 it was placed in the present container.

Till a few years ago the pujari of the Gurusthan used to attend to it, to keep it perpetually burning. Then the Parayan Kaksh was moved to the hall adjacent to the Kapad koti. So the pujari of the Parayan Kaksh looks after it now. He also looks after the Dattatreya Mandir.
